First spyshots in a cold winter day for Volvo's little SUV, the XC60.

It’s official. The new concept car made by Volvo will be the star of upcoming NAIAS, Detroit Auto Show. It’s name is Volvo XC60 Concept. Volvo’s target is small Premium Utility segment, attacking BMW X3 and upcoming Audi Q5.

As Volvo tradition this new SUV will equip top-of-the-class security features. The new XC60 will have the new automatic brake system. The car can brake automatically if the radar equipped adverts a danger. The system is called City Safety, and it works at 30km/h speed. As any other concept car this Volvo XC60 Concept features many high tech gadgets like the thin, touch screen console that is an enhanced version of the one you can find inside Volvo S50, V50 or V70 cabrio – coupe.

Sports Design
Volvo XC 60 concept shows some elements similar to latest Ford Group's production. As a matter of fact it shows that famous “kinetic design” which characterized all Max family and new Ford Mondeo Station Wagon. Therefore shape looks pretty sporting and muscular, with a reduced rear window.

Engine?
We still do not know anything about engine. We can suppose the range could be composed of T5 and D5, and there probable could be also a new fuel engine, maybe on XC90 and S80, like a 3.2 litres 6 cylinders.

Volvo XC60 is now a Concept car, but its debut is already planned for the beginning of 2009: this new creature is ready to challenge all its competitors on Small Premium Utility segment.
