The “big 1000” made in Hamamatsu gets better than ever
Here's the new Suzuki GSX-R 1000, the model year 2007: interesting new features improve a bike that was already at the top of its category.
Codename: aerodynamics
Wind tunnel development led to the new bodywork for the GSX-R1000, with an aggressive style and an overall reduced frontal area for superb aerodynamic performance. A slightly taller windscreen makes it easierfor the rider to tuck in while on a racetrack.
New vertically stacked headlights have a new, modern shape with a more compact projector high-beam.
A narrower seat and framecovers make it easier for the rider to shift weight side-to-side while cornering at racetrack as well as making it easier for the rider to touch the ground at stop.
The instrument cluster includes a step-motor-controlled analog tachometer, digital LCD speedmeter, dual LCD stepmeters, dual LCD tripmeters, an LCD clock and many other informations.
Top performer
The basic architecture of the compact, 999cc liquid cooled engine is well known, a model of race-winning design: four forged aluminium-alloy pistons with short skirts and cutaway sides riding in cylinders integrated into the upper crankcase, casting and plated with the race-proven bore coating known as Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM). New more compact fuel injectors for this 2007 GSX-R each have 12 smaller holes instead of the 4 larger holes used previously, producing a finer spray for better fuel atomization. Intake and exhaust parts are reshaped and more larger than earlier model, a change developed in Superbike racing.
All this hi-tech improvements let the new GSX-R 1000 develop 178hp for only 166kg of weight. This awsome Suzuki will be a tough adversary in 1000cc supersport cathegory: both in racetracks and sale charts!
